The interest among wind power companies to participate in Svenska kraftnät’s ancillary services market has grown. But what practical barriers exist for wind power companies that want to participate, and how can they be overcome? Join a webinar where representatives from Svenska kraftnät, Rise, and SR Energy discuss this topic.

Technically, wind turbines could be used for all ancillary services. However, there are challenges that limit their participation. What are these barriers, and how can they be addressed? These questions will be explored in this webinar.

Examples of questions to be discussed include:

  • What requirements does Svenska kraftnät impose for wind power companies to participate in ancillary services markets?
  • What examples does Svenska kraftnät have of obstacles that have prevented wind power companies from participating?
  • To provide different types of ancillary services, a turbine's or wind farm's software often needs to be adapted and certified. How can turbine manufacturers and IT service providers be engaged to contribute to this?
  • Service agreements between turbine manufacturers and wind farm owners often include requirements for how turbines may be operated to maintain warranties. This can hinder participation in ancillary services markets. How can this be resolved?
  • Environmental permits impose restrictions on the maximum noise level from wind farms, which may limit full participation in certain ancillary services markets. Can this be addressed?
  • During negative electricity prices, when is it more profitable to stop production than to continue and participate in the ancillary services market? How can a wind farm be optimized for such scenarios?
